I was at that race. Way to abuse imports at their own event

I tossed the powertrain into an 87 IROC. Kept the IROC 3.27 gears and 9 bolt in it for now. Just bought the MIG PAK 180, so I'm going to toss an 8pt rollbar into it this fall with some racing seats, driveshaft hoop, ext wheelstuds and possibly my new engine...

Much cleaner car, got it for 1500 down near St Thomas area.

Best time for it soo far @ 15 psi fullout run :

Right now, the main issue is the 1.97 sixty foot time. haha, the 130 MPH trap speed shows that the top end is there, the car is just a DOG out of the hole. for the first 70 feet it has 200HP. :(

I think in this trim, I likely wouldn't hurt a 7.5" 10 bolt, but if I decide to get a trans brake or a correct stall to launch with boost around 3500- 4000 I would be in line for something tougher.

I don't have the correct torque converter for it. it was made for a 425WHP BBC that makes 3X as much torque as I make at 3000RPM. It's a 5000 stall but on my car, footbrake, it only holds about 2700 RPM then it spins the tires. (could also be the weak 9 bolt disks, I dunno) ? The highest I can set my 2 step is 2500. :( Builds no boost at all that low. So, it launches at 2500, the turbo spools, then it shoots to the correct 5000 stall then it TAKES OFF. haha. It's a real dog out of the hole, no traction issues at all, all hookup.

New engine for next year is a Pontiac G6 GTP engine. it's a 3900V6 that makes 240 in N/A trim. Needed some cool billet parts that were donated by TCE motorsports, a sponsor I guess you could call it... to work with my setup. It has a Proform Elec. waterpump going on as well as a VVT delete and a couple other things were required to get it to work with my setup, but it should work out OK. I'll need to get my S10 manual steering gear installed as well. I have a pickup truck 75mm TB for it as well as shorty Deka 60# injectors.

I hope to run some higher boost with this new motor and possibly go well into the 10's with it...

Anyone know some tricks on how to make a 200HP engine stall a converter around 3500 ? heh, maybe I need a new one. :(

Thats just crazy and puts us guys to shame that spend big money on v8s and are still slower! Love the experimentation and getting the results. Cheers!

I thought that was your car at cscs (I wasn't there but I was watching some drag videos of the last event) but I assumed you had the old one painted.

when are you gonna do my BBC? :D

One way of getting the TC to stall later is make it lighter. Smaller diameter TC would get you there. I dunno if you need one custom made since I dunno what tranny youre using

Nice build for sure!
Great to see something different with some cool fabrication involved.

I'd be afraid of the LS1 driveshaft. They're not known for strength..
I swapped mine out when I got drag radials for a PST unit with solid cryo joints.

They are ok until you hook or drop the clutch at 5000 rpm
